GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To serve the church by providing accounting expertise, overseeing key accounting functions, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reports.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision making Ensure compliance with GAAP & internal accounting policies Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation Provide support for human resources, payroll, and benefits Support internal controls, recommend process improvements and efficiency measures Mentor and supervise accounting staff Ensure procedures are documented and followed Create and maintain publications and communication regarding department activities including, but not limited to the website, social media, emails, and church wide publications Maintain a strict level of confidentiality in all aspects of the job Attend staff and committee meetings as requested Work cooperatively as a member of the administrative staff and as a member of the overall staff of the church Abide by the policies and guidelines as set forth in the Employee Handbook Fulfill other departmental and church-related duties and responsibilities as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be committed to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Accounting Degree is required Strong analytical and computer skills High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and the ability to learn additional software Experience with non-profit accounting and church management software, such as Planning Center or ShelbyNext, is preferred Must have several years of experience in a similar role or position Ability to effectively communicate verbally with church members, visitors, vendors and staff members Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form Ability to deal with problems in a positive manner and find effective solutions or know where to seek assistance Punctuality and dependability Ability to work efficiently and effectively independently as well as in team situations Solid time management and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change, multi-task and be flexible with many interruptions Be able to fully embrace the mission, vision, and values of LCPC The church reserves the right to change job descriptions at any time, with or without advance notice.
