Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant or CPA to join our office. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering accurate financial reporting. Duties Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards. Perform general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data. Conduct account analysis, cash flow analysis, and bank reconciliations to maintain precise financial records. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations and other regulatory reporting requirements. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and facilitating audit procedures. Assist with financial report writing, interpretation of financial reports, and preparation of financial statements for management review. Implement accounting best practices including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and account reconciliation procedures. Collaborate with teams on forecasting, financial analysis, and budgeting activities to support organizational growth. Mentor junior staff members in technical accounting concepts, software tools like Excel (including VLOOKUP functions), spreadsheets, and data analysis techniques. Skills Extensive experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems. Knowledge of Tax Preparation software, such as CCH Prosystem fx Strong understanding of GAAP standards, regulatory compliance accounting, and governmental accounting practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills including data analysis, VLOOKUP functions, spreadsheets creation, and Excel data analysis techniques. Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and securities law applicable to financial reporting. Expertise in non-profit accounting principles including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations if applicable. Familiarity with technical accounting areas such as wills, trusts & estate law; corporate finance; public accounting; securities law; and financial concepts like debits & credits. Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and regulatory reporting accurately. Strong analytical skills for financial report interpretation, forecasting, cash flow management, and general ledger accounting. Excellent communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments to ensure compliance and accuracy in all financial activities.
