Job Description

Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing and overseeing complex accounting functions, maintaining the organization's financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and handling key accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, proficiency with accounting software, and the ability to analyze financial data to support business decisions. The accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the company's financial health and ensuring compliance with organization policy and financial reporting standards. Essential Duties /
Responsibilities:
Review AP and AR activities performed by Staff Accountant. Review the accuracy of transaction coding to the appropriate GL account, department, program, grant and fund. Provide guidance to the Staff Accountant regarding AP, AR and reconciliation issues. Prepare monthly accounts reconciliation, provider incentives, rent and CAM charges. Prepare, maintain and review payroll and benefits allocation to department, location, and program. Coordinate with department managers to obtain timely and accurate grant timecards. Ensure payroll charges to grants is supported by appropriate timekeeping and payroll documentation. Prepare grant timecards, accounting schedules and supporting documentation. Prepare and record capitation and incentive revenue. Monitor and account for federal and state grant allocations costs against approved budgets. Support management in monitoring grant balances, spending levels and budget availability Promote accurate, consistent and efficient accounting practices throughout the organization. Prepare audit schedules and audit supporting documentation. Prepare and submit ESR Report. Provide backup support for other accounting functions as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Abilities
/
Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws. Proficiency in accounting software (MIP) and advanced Excel skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to perform complex calculations and reconcile accounts accurately. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to management. Strong problem-solving skills, especially in identifying discrepancies or financial issues. Good communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and auditors.
Qualifications / Education
/
Training:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP Continuing education in accounting is a plus. Skills /
Experience:
5-7 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Experience with accounts reconciliation, managing accounts payable/receivable. Familiarity with cost allocation. Proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records and handling audits.
Pay:
$40.00 - $48.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
