Founded in 1982 by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is an aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 40-plus year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leading and managing the monthly accounting close process.
Supporting government regulatory compliance, including DCAA audit readiness and adherence to CAS/FAR requirements.
Assisting Program teams with ad hoc reporting, program cost analysis, and financial insights.
Driving continuous improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
Examining, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial data and presenting findings clearly to management.
Recommending improvements to financial systems and reporting workflows.
Acting as a backup for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger functions as needed.
Participating in special projects, research initiatives, and crossfunctional tasks as assigned.
Contributing to maintaining audit readiness, documentation standards, and compliance across all financial operations.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline PLUS 4+ years of relevant accounting experience.Strong government contract accounting background, including CAS, FAR, and hands-on DCAA compliance preferredSolid understanding of project accounting concepts: contract types and funding/billing structuresProficient in computerized accounting systems; Deltek Costpoint strongly preferredPrior experience with Cognos 8 or similar reporting/query tools appreciated.
Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
