Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join a Financial Services firm in Palo Alto, California on a long-term contract basis. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious about accounting processes, and takes ownership of their work while contributing as a collaborative team player. Responsibilities

+ Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and reporting.

+ Support investment accounting, capitalization schedules, valuations, and portfolio company reporting.

+ Review financial statements and schedules prepared by outside service providers; identify discrepancies and drive issues through resolution.

+ Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables.

+ Prepare management reports, financial analyses, cash forecasts, and quarterly portfolio review materials.

+ Support audits, tax requests, and ad hoc accounting and financial analysis.

+ Maintain accurate records and processes using QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Expensify.

+ Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency.

+ Partner with the broader finance team while independently owning assigned responsibilities. Ideal Candidate

+ Strong management/corporate accounting and financial reporting experience.

+ Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

+ Naturally curious and motivated to understand and improve processes.

+ Hands-on experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Expensify.

+ Proven ability to manage outside vendors and follow through on deliverables.

+ Strong communicator, organized, accountable, and able to manage multiple priorities.

+ Collaborative team player who takes ownership from start to finish.

+ Financial services or investment management experience preferred. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or completion of substantial accounting coursework.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with preference for backgrounds in venture capital, private equity, fund accounting, or fund operations.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Strong Excel capabilities, including the ability to work with large datasets, build reconciliations, and use tools such as pivot tables.
• Understanding of fund structures, investment activity, and financial reporting within an investment management environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly, stay organized, and manage competing deadlines in a collaborative team setting.
• Self-directed approach with a high level of ownership, adaptability, and commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
