Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This role supports the financial management of construction projects by overseeing billing, cost tracking, reconciliations, and reporting throughout each project stage. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with project teams and accounting records to keep financial information accurate, timely, and aligned with contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Establish new projects in the accounting system, including budgets, cost structures, and coding needed for accurate financial tracking.
  • Monitor job-related spending, subcontractor commitments, approved changes, and overall cost activity to maintain clear project visibility.
  • Create and process monthly customer invoicing, progress billings, and other project-related billing documents with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Examine subcontractor invoices for supporting backup, proper authorization, and compliance before payment is released.
  • Analyze budget performance and update profitability projections across the life of each project.
  • Reconcile project accounts, research variances, and resolve discrepancies affecting job cost accuracy.
  • Support month-end activities by preparing accruals, assisting with close tasks, and contributing to financial reporting deliverables.
  • Produce job cost and project performance reports and share key financial insights with Project Managers and internal stakeholders.
  • Track retention balances for both receivables and payables while helping maintain audit readiness and contract compliance documentation
