Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Pomona, California. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting inventory-related accounting, and helping deliver timely month-end reporting. The role partners with teams across operations, purchasing, and project functions to ensure costs tied to materials, labor, and installation activity are recorded correctly and reflected in financial results. Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing journal entries and maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger.
- Support the monthly close process by reviewing transactions, reconciling balances, and helping finalize financial results on schedule.
- Oversee inventory accounting tasks to ensure material costs are tracked properly and reflected accurately in reporting.
- Partner with operations, purchasing, and project teams to validate cost information related to labor, materials, and installation work.
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Process and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activity to support accurate cash flow and clean financial records.
- Prepare and review sales tax information to help ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Use Sage 100 and intermediate Excel skills to analyze financial data, maintain records, and support reporting requirements. Requirements
- At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Experience with inventory accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or product-based environment.
- Working knowledge of core accounting functions, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations.
- Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and investigate variances independently.
- Familiarity with sales tax processing and related accounting requirements.
- Proficiency with Sage 100 and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
