JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our growing mortgage accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations with a strong emphasis on Accounts Payable, invoice processing, and maintaining the integrity of the company's General Ledger (GL). The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of accounting principles, be highly organized, and have experience working with GL coding and reconciliations in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Process high-volume Accounts Payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing. Accurately assign and validate General Ledger (GL) codes to ensure expenses are recorded in the correct accounts and cost centers. Review invoices for accuracy and compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities. Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper documentation of transactions. Assist with journal entries and general ledger maintenance. Support audits by gathering documentation and responding to requests. Collaborate with accounting, operations, and mortgage servicing teams to resolve financial questions and discrepancies. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of accounting experience. Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes and General Ledger coding. Ability to accurately analyze invoices and determine appropriate GL account allocations.
