Staff Accountant California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (Cal-JAC) is seeking a Staff Accountant for their Sacramento-based statewide organization. Cal-JAC is the largest statewide training program dedicated exclusively to serving the training needs of professional firefighters. The Staff Accountant will provide support and coordination in the administrative, accounting and budgeting efforts for this multiple entity organization. The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of the team and a key contributor in the support of Cal-JAC organizations. We are looking for at least 3 years of solid general accounting with preparing financial statements and grant experience, BS in Accounting, and exposure to a fast-paced multi-faceted organization where meeting deadlines and accountability are part of the culture and success. Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliation reports.
• Prepare weekly and month end cash report.
• Maintain financial records and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
• Perform general ledger account analyses.
• Review cash receipts, A/R billing (invoicing), A/P trial balance and reports prepared by the Accounting Specialists.
• Review Grant contracts/agreements to ensure compliance.
• Track/monitor grant revenue and expenses and generate grant invoices.
• Prepare grant budget vs actual report.
• Prepare and review statutory and compliance reports.
• Assist in annual audit preparation.
• Prepare financial and ad hoc analyses.
• Complete special projects as necessary.
• Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• 3+ years of general accounting with preparing financial statements experience and working knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong PC skills; excellent knowledge/skills of Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Good problem-solving and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and achieve timely and accurate results.
• Self-driven, highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial data.

Compensation Package Salary is commensurate with experience.
