Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our dedicated finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial operations related to property management, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with regulatory standards, and timely financial reporting. Duties Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports for multiple properties. Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform detailed account analysis using accounting software such QuickBooks and AppFolio. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections aligned with contractual obligations. Conduct bank reconciliations and oversee cash flow analysis to optimize financial health across properties. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards relevant to property finance. Assist with the preparation of regulatory reporting, including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) filings and other governmental disclosures. Support internal audits by maintaining meticulous records, preparing audit schedules, and implementing best practices in financial reporting. Collaborate with property managers and external auditors to ensure accurate financial data interpretation and reporting. Utilize advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, spreadsheets, and data analysis techniques for financial reporting and forecasting. Mentor junior staff members in accounting procedures, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Skills Extensive experience with accounting software including QuickBooks and AppFolio Strong knowledge of
GAAP, SOX
compliance, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis, spreadsheet management, and financial report writing. Deep understanding of technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and account reconciliation. Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to securities law, Wills/trusts & estate law is a plus. Demonstrated ability in financial analysis, cash flow management, forecasting, and general ledger reconciliation. Excellent communication skills for effective mentoring of team members and collaboration across departments. Strong attention to detail combined with analytical thinking to interpret complex financial data accurately. Ability to adapt quickly to evolving regulations within the real estate finance sector while maintaining high standards of compliance.Pay:
