The Staff Accountant will be instrumental in ensuring an efficient monthly financial close, overseeing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), and delivering comprehensive accounting support to the Controller. This position also involves hands-on project accounting responsibilities and valuable opportunities to advance expertise in construction accounting.

Compensation:

Major Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions): Month-End Close Support Month-end close and GL reconciliations Equipment and field imports and allocations Verify, allocate, and post transactions Credit card reconciliations Bank reconciliations Loan and depreciation schedule reconciliations Equipment list management Review of A/P and A/R transaction coding Financial statement prep Review financial reports for accuracy before publishing Office Connector reports Ad hoc reporting as needed Research accounting and transaction questions from team members Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support the oversight of accounts payable, ensuring proper coding, accurate entries, and timely payments. Troubleshoot AP issues independently and coach others on best practices when needed. Manage accounts receivable collections, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies. General Accounting Tasks Reconcile financial accounts, including cash disbursement accounts and customer accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness. Run ad hoc financial reports as requested by the Controller or Accounting Manager, particularly for general accounting and AP/AR functions. Credit Card Management Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly credit card transactions: Verify, allocate, and post transactions as needed. Reconcile statements and promptly resolve any discrepancies. Confidentiality and Compliance Protect the organization's value by keeping financial and business information confidential.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
1-2 years of accounting experience; prior construction industry experience is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with SAGE 300/Timberline is a plus). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to troubleshoot independently and collaborate effectively with a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
