This is a full time position located on-site in Tustin, CA. The best candidate for this position: has at least 2-3 years of related accounting experience has previous successful experience working with nonprofits, especially grants is experienced and proficient with Microsoft Excel has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting demonstrates Christ-centered behavior, i.e., treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times.
What You'll Do:
Job Responsibilities & Duties Reconcile Hurtt balance sheet accounts monthly. Prepare and enter required Journal Entries. Enter bank transactions and reconcile bank accounts. Prepare standard monthly JE's including A/R - Sales JE. Adjust A/R on a quarterly basis. Prepare and send invoices related to any grants or services (CCS, certain grants etc.) Track and maintain backup for Hurtt grants. Coordinate with Grant Writer and others at Hurtt to assure that funds are being spent timely and within budget parameters. Audit petty cash funds. Assist with one off requests and ad hoc projects as needed. Track and update Hurtt's Gift-In-Kind schedules. Perform inventory test counts and update inventory values in GP. Prepare documentation and assist with external audits. Duties below are cross-training duties to support backing up the accounting clerk. Maintain updated vendor information and W-9's on file. (Cross-train as back up) Prepare manual payroll checks and one-off checks as needed. (Cross-train as back up) Collect and reconcile cash receipts from each clinic manager of a Hurtt location weekly, reconcile to the EMR system and address any discrepancies with appropriate personnel. (Cross-train as back up) Make weekly cash deposits to Farmers & Merchants Bank and get change for petty cash funds as needed once approved. (Cross-train as back up) Organize and scan all receipts for the health center and process checks through the remote deposit scanner daily into the bank. Work with Hurtt personnel to identify correct coding for each check received and enter receipts into Great Plains. Provide weekly list of checks received to Hurtt Leadership. (Cross-train as back up) Enter credit card purchases into Great Plains, verify receipts, and enter payments. (Cross-train as back up) Process vendor invoices in eRequester (PO system) and Great Plains (G/L and A/P system). Prepare weekly check runs. (Cross-train as back up) Prepare Hurtt's annual Form 1099's. (Cross-train as back up)

Bachelor's Degree (Accounting degree preferred)
Experience:
Experience as an accountant with some accounts payable experience in a medical or dental clinic is preferred but not required
Driving Requirements:
Required to drive personal vehicle on behalf of company. Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) with basic typing skills (40 wpm) and 10-key by touch. Microsoft Dynamics and or Great Plains Accounting software is preferred Detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and or entering financial information Experience with database entry, reporting and maintenance, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs at a highly proficient level Self-motivated, flexible with the ability to work with a team to consistently meet all deadlines. Experience as an accountant with some accounts payable experience in a medical or dental clinic is preferred but not required. Detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and or entering financial information. A pleasant professional personality when speaking on the telephone, with visitors and company personnel. Self-motivated, flexible with the ability to work with a team to consistently meet all deadlines. Effective communication (verbal and written) and strong organizational skills. Ability to work with program members in basic training opportunities when necessary. Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) with basic typing skills (40 wpm) and 10-key by touch. Microsoft Dynamics and or Great Plains Accounting software is preferred. Maintain an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our insurance carrier, less than 2 DMV points on driving record). Timely regular attendance. The Orange County Rescue Mission is considered an "Essential Employer" during community crisis/disasters/emergencies, therefor this employment is considered "essential" and you will be expected to show up and perform your essential job duties as designated by the organization. Experience with database entry, reporting and maintenance, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs at a highly proficient level. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.

About the Hurtt Family Health Clinic The Hurtt Family Health Clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) community clinic that provides medical, dental, vision, chiropractic, and behavioral health services to underserved patients in Orange County, California. We have four clinics located in Tustin, Santa Ana, and Anaheim, as well as a mobile clinic. We have established an outstanding reputation for quality programs and the highest level of patient care.
