Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or EA (Enrolled Agent) to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role offers an opportunity to work across diverse sectors, including non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and corporate entities. The CPA will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, overseeing audits, and ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to fostering financial transparency and compliance. Responsibilities Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Conduct general ledger reconciliations and journal entries using accounting software such as PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, or other financial systems. Manage account reconciliation processes, including bank reconciliations and account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly. Oversee regulatory reporting requirements related to securities law, governmental accounting standards, and other compliance mandates. Perform detailed financial data analysis utilizing Excel functions such as VLOOKUP and spreadsheet modeling for forecasting and trend identification. Ensure accurate recording of debits & credits in double-entry bookkeeping systems while maintaining detailed audit trails. Support internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and assist with internal and external audit processes. Collaborate with teams on financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and presentation of findings to stakeholders. Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial management strategies aligned with organizational goals. Mentor junior staff members on accounting best practices, regulatory requirements, and technical accounting procedures. Requirements Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required; additional certifications such as CMA or CIA are a plus. Minimum of three years' experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a focus on financial reporting and regulatory compliance. Extensive knowledge of GAAP, regulatory reporting standards, and technical accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar platforms; experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel data analysis tools is essential. Strong understanding of non-profit accounting practices, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, governmental accounting standards, Wills & Trusts law. Demonstrated ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, cash flow analysis, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation accurately. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
