Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant - Grower Accounting provides operational accounting support within Controllership by ensuring accurate recording, reconciliations, and compliance. This role leverages ERP tools to improve data quality, cycle time, and control rigor, with specialized responsibilities related to grower accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are typical for this position and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned.
Execute monthly close tasks:
journal entries, reconciliations, and variance investigations. Maintain documentation to support audit requests and internal controls. Partner with IT, through accounting leadership, to improve automation and data quality. Support continuous improvement initiatives across Controllership processes. Process and reconcile grower/member payments, advances, notes, and equity transactions in accordance with approved program rules, using the grower accounting system, data warehouse, and other tools. Manage financial inventory processes and analyze consumption related to grower/member payments. Produce and validate year-end member statements; coordinate corrections and member inquiries. Maintain governed master data for member accounts; coordinate IT change requests and testing. Track regulatory changes impacting grower accounting and support documentation updates. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reconciliations, aging reviews, and other assigned tasks. Monitor control exceptions and support timely responses to audit requests. Identify and support automation and paperless process improvements, such as reducing manual entries, paper-based statements, grower receiving tags, and other paper data entry processes. Serve as a primary point of contact for grower/member communications, responding to inquiries regarding payments, statements, and grower/member account activity with professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills:
Clear communicator; collaborative across Finance, IT, and Member Services. Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive problem solver. Knowledge of grower/member accounting processes, payment cycles, and statement-related activities preferred; ability to learn role-specific grower/member processes required.
Ability to:
Meet close deadlines and maintain control documentation. Meet critical grower/member process timelines, including grower payments, statement distribution, and other deadline-driven grower/member accounting tasks.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-5+ years of accounting experience with strong reconciliation and ERP skills; SAP experience preferred.
Physical/Safety Requirements:
Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods. Ambient noise is louder than a traditional office setting.
