Description We are looking for an Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a non-profit organization in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This Contract position will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting core accounting activities, and helping the team stay organized across payables, receivables, and general ledger processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working across multiple accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage invoice processing and payment activities to ensure vendors are paid accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain customer billing and cash application tasks while monitoring outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries with strong attention to accuracy, supporting timely month-end accounting activities.
• Reconcile bank accounts and investigate variances to keep financial records complete and up to date.
• Support general ledger maintenance by reviewing transactions, verifying coding, and ensuring proper documentation.
• Assist with routine financial reporting and help organize accounting records for internal review.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather needed information, clarify account activity, and resolve accounting issues. Requirements
• Experience in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of general ledger processes and standard accounting controls.
• Ability to prepare journal entries accurately and maintain supporting documentation.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and researching account differences.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency with common accounting systems and spreadsheet tools.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
