We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a long-term contract opportunity in Connecticut. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who can oversee key day-to-day accounting functions, support the month-end close process, and maintain the accuracy of financial records. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for reconciling accounts, reviewing general ledger activity, and helping ensure financial data is complete, accurate, and timely. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, solid general ledger experience, and a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while delivering dependable financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

Lead monthly closing activities by preparing and reviewing accounting records to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Record and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation while maintaining compliance with accounting policies. Oversee general ledger activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies affecting financial statement accuracy. Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and follow through on outstanding items until completion. Complete bank account reconciliations on a regular basis and research unmatched transactions or unusual activity. Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial data, clarify account activity, and support reporting needs. Maintain organized accounting schedules and documentation to support audits and ongoing financial review processes. 5+ years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level accounting capacity. Demonstrated expertise in month-end close procedures and general ledger management. Strong experience preparing journal entries and reconciling a wide range of accounts. Hands-on ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently. Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices. High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in daily work. Ability to manage deadlines effectively and prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
