Position Summary This is an end-to-end client management role. You'll own a portfolio of business and individual clients from accounting and tax compliance through planning, advisory, research, and ongoing consulting while mentoring staff and helping improve firm operations. Primary Responsibilities Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of business and individual clients. Build trusted, long-term relationships by providing timely, proactive, and professional communication. Understand each client's business operations, goals, and challenges to provide meaningful recommendations. Manage client engagements from initial information gathering through final deliverables. Proactively identify issues, communicate recommendations, and ensure all client matters are completed timely with minimal partner oversight. Accounting & Financial Oversight Review bookkeeping records, financial statements, and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Identify accounting errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvements. Research and resolve complex accounting matters. Assist clients with accounting system improvements and software implementations when appropriate. Tax Compliance Prepare and review complex federal and state income tax returns (individuals, partnerships, corporations, etc.) Analyze complex tax issues affecting business owners. Business Advisory & Consulting Identify tax planning opportunities throughout the year. Assist clients with entity structure, operational improvements, and business decisions. Research federal, state, and local tax matters. Recommend accounting, operational, and technology solutions that improve client efficiency. Participate in consulting and special projects as assigned. Compliance & Government Agencies Research and respond to IRS, state, and local taxing authority notices. Prepare supporting documentation and correspondence. Represent clients before taxing authorities as authorized. Assist with audits, examinations, and other governmental inquiries. Support business compliance requirements including sales tax, personal property tax, annual reports, and other state and local filings. Leadership & Team Development Review work prepared by staff accountants. Mentor and train junior professionals. Provide constructive feedback and technical guidance. Assist with workload management and project delegation. Promote firm standards for quality, efficiency, professionalism, and client service. Contribute to the development of internal procedures, documentation, and best practices. Required Qualifications Education & Experience Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or successful completion of all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination with eligibility for licensure upon satisfying applicable experience requirements. Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive public accounting experience or equivalent experience.
