Accounting/Tax Intern - Offices in Shelton, Bethel, Hamden, Ridgefield, Norwalk, CT Additional locations in Worcester, MA and Venice, FL The Innovative CPA Group (ICG) is an accountingadvisory firm, comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds in accounting. We approach every client project as a team, fostering a culture of empowerment, accountability, and knowledge-sharing. We are seeking motivated Accounting/Tax Interns to join our offices in Shelton, Bethel, Hamden, Ridgefield, Norwalk, CT and Worcester, MA . The internship runs from late January/early February through April 15th and requires a minimum availability of 20 hours per week throughout the program. This internship offers hands-on experience in tax preparation, exposure to other areas of accounting, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced CPAs in a collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities:
Organize, scanvalidate client information for tax return preparation Develop a working knowledge of tax preparation processes and software Shadow team members on special projects to gain insight into firm operations Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities Stay informed on changes in tax laws and regulations Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and confidentiality Possible exposure to audit and attest services Participate in additional firm activities and events as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or master's in accounting, Finance or Taxation Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week throughout the internship program CPA exam eligibility preferred Minimum GPA of 3.0 with a strong academic track record Relevant/prior work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs) Proficiency with computers; knowledge of accounting software is a plus Ability to prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and work effectively in a team Strong work ethic with a willingness to take on new challenges Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities
