Newington, CT. This is an in person role. Not hybrid, not remote
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pmSUMMARY

The staff accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The staff accountant will be required to perform the month end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis for one or more business units. They are responsible for all accounting and tax functions for all assigned business unit(s) and responsible for daily cash balancing and special projects, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESPerform accounting and tax functions for all assigned business unit(s), as follows:

Prepare monthly accrual basis financial statements, including all journal entries and related schedules.

Control depreciation records using Asset Keeper software.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.

Maintain daily cash balance reporting and requisitions.

Prepare outside service and inter-company analyses.

Prepare work papers for annual outside Auditor review and tax preparation.

Present monthly financial reports to Management and provide analysis on variancesSolid understanding of materiality in both financial reporting and time managementPreparation of certain tax filings.

Comply with company rules and regulations.

Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.

Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will influence the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.

Perform other related duties as assigned to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and companyEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEAccounting degree or equivalentKnowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principlesKnowledge of auditing practices and principlesKnowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulationsKnowledge and experience with MS Business CentralA minimum of 1 years related experience preferably in a manufacturing settingCost accounting experience a plusCOMPETENCIESProficient in payables, receivables, invoicing and general ledger.
