Project, 3-6 months with possibility of extension A well-established organization is seeking an experienced Reinsurance Accountant to join its team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong reconciliation and analytical skills who enjoys working with detailed financial data and ensuring accuracy across accounting and reporting processes. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and a proven background in account reconciliations. Experience in reinsurance or insurance accounting is preferred but not required. Responsibilities Reconcile reinsurance-related financial information, reports, and account activity to ensure accuracy and completeness. Review financial data and reporting to identify discrepancies, unusual activity, and variances. Research and resolve reconciliation differences by investigating underlying transactions and coordinating with internal teams. Assist with the accounting and reporting of reinsurance activity, including cessions, adjustments, calculations, and related analysis. Prepare and analyze financial reports and schedules and assist with monthly variance analysis. Support month-end and quarterly accounting activities, including account reconciliations and reporting. Review data and reporting processes to identify potential errors and recommend improvements. Work with internal teams to investigate and resolve data or reporting issues. Assist with audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Help develop and maintain accounting procedures and process documentation. Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and other departments on accounting and reporting matters. Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of accounting experience with significant reconciliation experience. Reinsurance or insurance accounting experience preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to research discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Pay:
