You will lead and manage client interactions while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing. No payroll processing experience required but beneficial. Job Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical professional to manage payroll tax compliance and ensure the accurate and timely filing, reconciliation, and payment of federal, state, and local payroll taxes. As a Payroll Tax Accountant , you will be responsible for maintaining accurate tax records, researching and resolving tax discrepancies, responding to agency notices, and supporting quarter-end and year-end tax processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of multi-state payroll taxation, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and exceptional attention to detail to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely resolution of payroll tax matters. Job Duties Payroll Tax Prepare, audit, and manage quarterly and annual federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and deposits (including Forms 941, 940, and W-2) on behalf of client employer accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Accounting and Financial Reporting Complete the daily audit/reconciliation of

activity Compile and analyze financial information to prepare general journal entries documenting business transactions Reconcile multiple bank accounts Assist with the month-end close for each accounting cycle, providing accounting and analytical support to management Review the trial balance monthly to ensure all expenses have been appropriately allocated Prepare the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and other periodic financial and statistical reports in the required format, summarizing account information and trends Perform all work in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Audit, Controls, and Process Improvement Prepare schedules, analyses, and audit worksheets to support timely reporting and annual audits, and assist outside auditors with the year-end audit Keep audit files organized and up to date, and provide them to leadership with high-level performance metrics Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities Apply policies and procedures for internal controls Identify and drive best practices for tax administration and general accounting, including enhancing audit spreadsheets to better reflect daily operations Bring subject matter expertise to strategic initiatives that lead to business process improvements Ensure prompt and discreet notification to management of any observation of illegal acts or internal ethics violations Work independently on a variety of projects and support management with special projects as needed Perform other related duties as required and assigned Oversee day-to-day payroll tax activity across multiple states at scale, including periodic tax payments, amendments, audits, approvals, and adjustments Review MasterTax data on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, reconciling client data and coordinating resolution of any discrepancies Serve as the MasterTax subject matter expert, setting up client tax accounts and ensuring completeness of data Manage state tax account setup, SUTA experience rate maintenance, and state/local filing requirements Apply payroll concepts to payroll tax filing requirements and perform federal and state payroll tax research Analyze data provided by clients and tax agencies, research discrepancies, and develop practical recommendations and sound decisions in judgment areas, including the preparation of amended returns Coordinate responses to and resolution of payroll tax notices received by clients, communicating directly with the IRS and state and local tax jurisdictions Assist with generating Forms 1099 Ensure adherence to tax reconciliation and deposit controls Communicate with clients throughout the life of the account regarding tax setups, TPA assignments, POAs, and related questions, troubleshooting issues in a timely manner.
Requirements:
Bachelor Deggree in Accounting or related field. 3-5 years of experience with tax systems Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and functions
