$60,000.00•$70,000.00 per year Job description: Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This pivotal role involves managing complex accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the organization's financial integrity. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in corporate and non-profit accounting, demonstrate strong technical expertise, and exhibit leadership qualities to mentor junior staff. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to financial reporting accuracy, internal controls, and strategic financial management. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and equity statements Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including coordinating timelines and deliverables Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation Perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis, including explanations of budget vs. actual results Support annual audit activities, including preparation of schedules, lead sheets, and responses to auditor requests Maintain and ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decisions and operational improvements Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports for management review Perform bank reconciliations and support inventory accounting processes Review financial statements for HOAs and assist with related accounting inquiries as neededCollaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to support financial objectives Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies Communicate findings and analysis to the Controller and/or CFO Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is preferred or being i the process of obtaining. Minimum of five years of professional experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments. Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting standards such as GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is a plus. Strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements and internal control frameworks. Proficiency with advanced accounting software including PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms. Experience with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), Wills & Trusts law, or governmental accounting is advantageous. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately. Proven ability to mentor team members effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of securities law regulations related to financial reporting is desirable.
