Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly and annual NAIC statutory financial statements and related regulatory filings.
- Perform statutory accounting activities in accordance with SSAP and insurance regulatory requirements.
- Manage reinsurance accounting, including treaty reconciliations, recoverables, payables, and related journal entries.
- Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Record and analyze premium activity, loss reserves, loss adjustment expenses, and ceded reinsurance transactions.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Assist with financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Coordinate with actuaries regarding reserve calculations and financial reporting impacts.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and assist with regulatory examinations as needed.
- Identify accounting issues, recommend process improvements, and strengthen internal controls.
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of insurance accounting experience.
- Strong statutory accounting and NAIC reporting experience.
- Experience with reinsurance accounting and treaty reconciliations.
- Knowledge of insurance financial statements, regulatory filings, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting audits and month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
