The Corporate Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities across all Vasco companies operating in multiple states. As a member of the corporate finance team, this position will support enterprise-wide accounting functions, ensure consistency in financial reporting across business units and locations, and contribute to strategic financial initiatives that impact the organization as a whole. The Senior Accountant will be significantly involved in all monthly close activities and report to the Accounting Manager. This position includes an opportunity for growth within the Company and has a clear path for future promotions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Perform a first-level review of common areas requiring revisions for monthly close Maintain monthly close checklist and follow-up with accounting staff on areas past due Assist the CFO and Accounting Manager with drafting and enforcing accounting policies for the finance and accounting staff across the organization's multi-state operations
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Maintains the general ledger. Prepare journal entries related to mergers and acquisitions. Involved with M&A integration. Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. Works with accounting staff to ensure invoices are properly coded to the correct accounts. Performs monthly close journal entries. Owns fixed assets and lease accounting journal entries. Liaises with external accountants to provide documentation for new fixed assets and leases. Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Balances all intercompany transactions on a monthly basis and posts any required adjusting entries. Assists Accounting Manager with assembling schedules associated with monthly close, such as work in process. Works with department leads to ensure all monthly accruals are recorded to the proper period. Provides recommended process improvements to help streamline monthly financial close. Assists with implementing and maintaining controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk and avoid errors. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Highly proficient with accounting software (experience with Foundation is a plus). Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required. Three to five years of accounting experience required. CPA, public accounting experience, and/or relevant industry accounting experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
