Full-Time Position Overview:
Our growing construction and real estate organization is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our accounting team in Margate, Florida. This individual will play a key role in managing project-related accounting activities, maintaining the general ledger, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific billing and documentation requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and prior experience within the construction, real estate, or related industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process AIA billing applications and monitor project billings. Manage Notice to Owner (NTO) documentation, lien waivers, and lien release processes. Assist with the preparation of information and schedules for internal and external audits . Maintain and reconcile the general ledger , ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records. Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation process . Perform detailed job costing analysis and project cost tracking. Reconcile corporate credit card accounts and investigate discrepancies. Prepare and analyze budget-to-actual variance reports , providing explanations and recommendations. Support month-end and year-end close activities. Collaborate with project managers and operational leaders to ensure accurate project financial reporting. Assist with cash management and other accounting functions as needed. Complete special projects and ad hoc financial analyses requested by management.
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience . Experience within the construction, real estate, property development, engineering, or a similar project-based industry . Strong understanding of (preferred): Job costing Construction billing processes General ledger accounting Financial reporting Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting , Finance , or a related field preferred Experience with construction accounting software and ERP systems.
