An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
Accountant - Position Summary The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations across manufacturing, e-commerce, domestic and international sales, and distribution activities. This position will manage and support a broad range of accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, inventory and landed cost accounting, sales tax, payroll processing, month-end close, financial reporting, and tax compliance. The position requires strong ERP experience and the ability to understand how transactions move through an integrated manufacturing and e-commerce business. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, comfortable working across departments, and able to identify discrepancies and improve processes. Job Responsibilities Maintain accurate and complete general ledger records. Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close. Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts. Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions. Maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls. Review transactions and reports for accuracy and completeness. Troubleshoot accounting, inventory, purchasing, sales, and fulfillment-related issues. Review and account for landed costs, including freight, duties, tariffs, brokerage, and other costs associated with imported goods. Reconcile purchasing, receiving, inventory, and vendor transactions. Review sales, refunds, returns, discounts, shipping charges, and payment processing fees. Reconcile customer deposits and payment processor settlements. Support accurate accounting for domestic and international sales. Assist with sales tax registrations, filings, payments, and reconciliations. Support accounting for international sales, duties, tariffs, customs, and related costs. Manage or support the full accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing. Maintain vendor records and reconcile vendor statements. Investigate outstanding balances and discrepancies. Process and/or support biweekly payroll and related accounting activities. Reconcile payroll, payroll taxes, benefits, deductions, and related general ledger accounts. Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2s and related reporting. Coordinate and support annual business tax filings and compliance requirements in conjunction with external tax professionals. Assist with federal, state, and local tax reporting. Track filing deadlines and ensure required information is provided timely. Assist with property, business personal property, sales tax, and other applicable business tax requirements. Strong hands-on ERP experience required. Experience with e-commerce accounting preferred. Experience with sales tax and multi-state sales preferred. Experience with international transactions, landed costs, duties, tariffs, and freight accounting preferred. Payroll processing experience preferred. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
