full-time Accountant Real Estate Development Company Position Overview A growing real estate development company is seeking an experienced Accountant to support its accounting and financial reporting functions. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple properties, projects, and legal entities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on real estate accounting experience and strong proficiency with Yardi. Both real estate industry experience and Yardi experience are required for this position. Key Responsibilities Manage general ledger accounting for multiple properties, development projects, and legal entities Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and adjusting entries Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes Prepare monthly financial statements and internal management reports Review and code invoices by property, project, entity, and cost category Track development costs, construction expenses, and project budgets Assist with construction draws, lender reporting, and supporting documentation Record and reconcile intercompany transactions Monitor cash activity and assist with cash-flow reporting Maintain fixed-asset and depreciation schedules Analyze budget-to-actual variances and investigate discrepancies Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor management Maintain accurate accounting records within Yardi Support annual audits, tax preparation, and requests from outside accountants Collaborate with development, construction, property management, and executive teams Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards Assist with additional accounting projects as needed Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field Three or more years of accounting experience Previous accounting experience within real estate development, property management, construction, or real estate investment Hands-on experience using Yardi Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting Experience managing accounting activities across multiple properties or legal entities Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial analysis Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with real estate development projects and construction accounting Knowledge of job-cost accounting, development draws, and lender reporting Experience preparing property-level and consolidated financial statements CPA certification or progress toward certification is a plus Important Requirement Candidates must have both real estate accounting experience and hands-on Yardi experience to be considered for this position.
