Orlando, FL | Fully Onsite Candidates must live in or be within reasonable commuting distance of the Greater Orlando area. About the Position An established professional services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. Reporting closely to the Controller and CFO , this role will have significant involvement in general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and audit support. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced accountant who wants responsibility beyond routine transactional accounting, with opportunities to work on technical accounting, internal controls, process improvement, and financial reporting . What Makes This Role Different Direct exposure to and collaboration with the Controller and CFO Ownership of important general ledger and month-end close functions Opportunity to work with technical accounting requirements, including ASC 842 and ASC 606 Involvement in monthly financial statement preparation and detailed account analysis Participation in annual financial statement and 401(k) audits Responsibility for fixed assets, accruals, tax filings, and internal control activities Ability to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and help implement accounting improvements A broad scope of responsibilities that extends beyond a typical Staff Accountant role Responsibilities In this position, you will: Partner with the Controller and CFO on day-to-day Finance and Accounting activities Complete month-end close processes, including recurring, non-recurring, and adjusting journal entries Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts and research variances or discrepancies Analyze accounts to identify unusual transactions, trends, and financial fluctuations Prepare supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts Record fixed asset additions and prepare associated depreciation and amortization entries Calculate and record monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals Assist in producing monthly financial statements Maintain accurate general ledger activity and prepare necessary journal entries Assist with accounting and compliance requirements associated with ASC 842 and ASC 606 Support local, state, and federal tax filings along with other required reporting Provide support during annual financial statement and 401(k) audits Assist in reviewing, evaluating, and maintaining internal controls Create spreadsheet-based reports and validate the accuracy of supporting financial information Assist with company Certificate of Insurance documentation when needed Evaluate existing accounting procedures and recommend process enhancements while preserving appropriate controls Contribute to special accounting projects and other departmental initiatives as assigned Required Qualifications The successful candidate will bring: 5+ years of accounting experience required Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, or a bachelor's degree in Business with an Accounting emphasis Strong practical knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations Experience completing bank and credit card reconciliations Knowledge of accrual accounting, fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization Experience supporting financial statement preparation and performing account analysis Strongly preferred: exposure to ASC 842 and ASC 606 Experience assisting with external audits and internal control processes Strong Excel/spreadsheet capabilities and financial analysis skills Experience working within an ERP or accounting system; NetSuite experience preferred Ability to independently organize and meet recurring accounting deadlines Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship Compensation & Opportunity $80,000 - $90,000 base compensation Direct partnership with the Controller and CFO Broad exposure to corporate accounting and financial reporting Hands-on experience with ASC 842 and ASC 606 Involvement in annual financial statement and 401(k) audits Opportunity to contribute to improvements in accounting processes and internal controls Ideal Candidate This opportunity is well suited for a Senior Accountant who has built a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and month-end close and is comfortable working independently.
