Staff Accountant
JOB SUMMARY
The Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant is responsible for managing and processing the company's accounts payable transactions. This role ensures timely and accurate payment to vendors, reconciliation of accounts, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
:
E SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
P rocess invoices, expense reports, and payment requests in accordance with company policies. Verify accuracy of vendor invoices and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments. Reconcile accounts payable transactions and maintain vendor records. Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date. Assist in month-end closing and accruals related to accounts payable. Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain strong relationships. Generate reports detailing accounts payable status. Assist with internal and external audits. Support process improvements and automation initiatives. Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Education and experience equivalent to:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in A ccounting , Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university .
Experience:
3 to 6 years of related work experience in general accounting functions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of (B/basic; J/journey; E/expert): Generally accepted accounting principles (J) State and local tax laws (J) Cost accounting (J) Accounting functions (e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll processing, etc.) (J) Budgeting process (J) PC word-processing/spreadsheet software applications (J) Relevant division concepts, procedures, and regulations (J) Use of basic office equipment and machinery (PCs, copiers, fax machines, modems, etc.) (J) Company computer systems (payroll, inventory, etc.) (J) Division Operations (B) Project/assignment management techniques and procedures (B) 10-key machine by touch (B) Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables) (J) Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., D365, Lawson, etc.) (J) Skills & Competencies Skill and ability to: Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer satisfaction Read and process written information with a high degree of accuracy Write effectively Interpret accounting anomalies and identify appropriate solutions Communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external customers Act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed
