Accountant City of Kingsland, Georgia Salary:
$42,000 - $52,000 annually The City of Kingsland is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance Department. This position performs complex accounting and fiscal functions and serves as a lead worker, supporting the accuracy and integrity of the City's financial operations. Position Responsibilities The Accountant will be responsible for: Auditing, reconciling, and analyzing financial transactions and records Preparing journal entries and performing monthly closing functions Assisting with the preparation and administration of the City's annual budget Forecasting revenues and reviewing department budget submissions Preparing financial reports, spreadsheets, schedules, and financial analyses Supporting property tax payment and delinquent tax collection activities Reviewing internal controls and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies and transaction issues Providing financial information and assistance to City departments, officials, vendors, auditors, and the public Training and assisting staff and providing lead-worker direction Maintaining professional knowledge through training, seminars, and industry resources Performing other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field Three (3) to four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting, financial management, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Knowledge of governmental and municipal accounting practices Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, reconciliations, and internal controls Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Proficiency with computers, accounting software, spreadsheets, databases, and standard office equipment Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy Employee Benefits The City of Kingsland offers a comprehensive benefits package valued at up to $30,000 annually , depending on selected coverage.
