Job Description
Accountant - Public Accounting Firm Bilingual English/Spanish | Full-Time | About the role Grace M. Williams CPA is seeking an experienced bilingual (ENGLISH-SPANISH) Accountant to manage accounting and tax engagements for a portfolio of business. This is a hands-on client-service role for someone who has worked in a public accounting or CPA firm, can independently manage deadlines and deliverables, and is comfortable reviewing work and guiding other team members. The right candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with sound judgment, clear client communication, and consistent follow-through. Experience limited solely to the internal accounting department of one company will not be sufficient for this role. What you will do Manage multiple client engagements at the same time, establishing priorities, work plans, budgets, and deadlines. Prepare and review bookkeeping, account reconciliations, journal entries, adjusting entries, and financial statements for business clients. Prepare and/or review business and individual income tax returns, based on experience and assigned engagement scope. Review supporting documentation and team workpapers for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with firm standards. Identify accounting discrepancies, missing information, tax issues, and client risks; investigate them and recommend practical solutions. Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, communicate requirements clearly, follow up on open items, and keep clients informed of progress. Coordinate with administrative and accounting staff to ensure work is assigned, completed, reviewed, and delivered on time. Coach and support junior accounting team members through clear direction, constructive feedback, and knowledge sharing. Assist with IRS and state tax notices, client representation support, business formations, and related advisory services, as assigned and within the candidate's qualifications. Identify opportunities to improve engagement efficiency, client service, retention, and profitability without compromising quality. Maintain organized client files and protect confidential financial and personal information. Required qualifications Professional fluency in English and Spanish, including the ability to communicate accounting and tax matters clearly with clients and coworkers in both languages. Bachelor's degree in Accounting. At least 3 years of recent accounting experience in a public accounting firm, CPA firm, or multi-client accounting practice. Hands-on experience managing accounting work for multiple clients and meeting concurrent monthly, quarterly, and tax deadlines. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation. Experience preparing and/or reviewing U.S. federal and state tax returns for individuals and/or businesses. Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, problem-solving ability, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, ask the right questions, document work, and escalate risks promptly. Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, Online and Microsoft Excel. Preferred qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and online, payroll, sales tax, and IRS or state correspondence. Experience serving small and midsize businesses and working directly with business owners. How success will be measured Accurate, complete work with minimal avoidable rework. Engagements completed within agreed deadlines and budgets. Timely follow-up and clear communication with clients and internal teams. Client satisfaction, retention, and professional handling of issues.
