Job Description

Job Overview We're seeking a Senior Accountant oversees key accounting and financial reporting functions to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the organization's financial records. This position prepares financial reports, supports audits, provides guidance to accounting staff, and helps ensure responsible stewardship of public funds while supporting informed financial decision-making. Responsibilities Lead and support the daily operations of the accounting team. Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records and reporting. Review and approve accounts payable transactions, journal entries, and other financial activities. Prepare reconciliations, financial reports, and documentation for month-end, year-end, and annual audits. Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards, County policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with budget preparation, grant accounting, tax filings, and financial reporting. Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and internal controls. Perform other related duties as assigned Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience in a governmental setting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
