POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a well-organized, proactive and self-motivated Accountant to add to our team in the Accounting Department. This individual should be a team player, self-starter with the ability to multi-task and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. This individual must also be detail-oriented and possess proven people and communication skills. The Accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer and responsibilities include general ledger accountability, financial reporting, monthly and quarterly balance sheet and income statement analysis, banking activities, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly general ledger close and other special projects as assigned. This position is also responsible for providing accounting support to ensure efficient and accurate accounting operations of the Maui Foodbank.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following, but not limited to: Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries. Analyzing assigned general ledger accounts and reporting on variances, as well as identifying cost savings opportunities. Prepare/maintain bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations, including prepaid and accrual schedules. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. Prepare schedules and analyses in support of monthly/quarterly reviews and annual audits. Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls. Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Assists in the administration of the payroll process. Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors. Provide support on any other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATION
Must have a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance degree from an accredited university. MBA or CPA certification is a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook. SKILLS and/or
ABILITIES
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong analytical and accounting skills. Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

Pay:
$40,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
