Full Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting Blue Island, Illinois | Full-Time We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to become an important member of our leadership support team. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who wants more than simply processing transactions. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, improving processes, and becoming a trusted resource to company leadership. In this role, you will have meaningful responsibility across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, financial reporting, compliance, and general accounting , while also working directly with employees, clients, vendors, and company leadership. Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications Range $60 - $65K annually Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid vacation and holidays Retirement savings program Stable, family-owned company with 50+ years of history Direct exposure to and support from company leadership Opportunity to own important accounting functions Ability to identify and implement process improvements Collaborative, professional work environment Opportunity to grow your responsibilities and make a measurable impact on the business What You'll Own Accounting & Finance Manage bi-weekly payroll for a large hourly workforce Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure timely payroll tax compliance Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll reports, including 941, 940, W-2, 1095, and 1099 Manage accounts payable , including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing Manage accounts receivable , including invoicing, deposits, collections, and account reconciliation Maintain and reconcile the general ledger Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports Support year-end closing and reporting activities Maintain employee wage rates and customer billing rates Process wage garnishments and payroll deductions Monitor accounting accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and resolve problems proactively Administrative & Leadership Support Work directly with company leadership on financial and administrative matters Prepare budgets, proposals, reports, correspondence, and financial information Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, employees, and management Assist leadership with special projects and business initiatives Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and increase efficiency Learn and effectively utilize company accounting, payroll, and operational software Serve as a reliable resource to leadership and the broader organization The Person We're Looking For We're looking for someone who doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done.

Takes ownership and accountability for your work Has exceptional attention to detail Is highly organized and dependable Thinks critically and enjoys solving problems Can identify an issue and take the initiative to resolve it Communicates confidently and professionally Is comfortable working directly with company leadership Can manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail Maintains a high level of confidentiality and integrity Enjoys improving processes rather than simply following them Brings a positive, professional \can-do\ attitude Works independently while contributing as a strong team member Qualifications Required 4+ years of accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience Demonstrated experience managing high-volume payroll Strong knowledge of: Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable General Ledger Bank Reconciliations Financial Reporting Experience with payroll tax filings and year-end reporting Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills Working knowledge of GAAP Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field Experience with payroll tax compliance Experience working with a service-based company and hourly workforce Experience working directly with company ownership or senior leadership Experience identifying and implementing accounting or administrative process improvements A Role With Real Responsibility This is not a position where you will simply be processing paperwork and checking boxes.
