Consulting Contract with Potential for Long-Term Opportunity Overview A well-established organization in the Metro East area is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team on a consulting basis. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys digging into complex accounting issues, reconciling accounts, and bringing order to financial processes. The position offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact through hands-on accounting work while partnering closely with leadership. Although the engagement is expected to be long-term, there is potential for the role to evolve into a permanent opportunity for the right individual. Key Responsibilities Perform bank account reconciliations and resolve outstanding discrepancies. Analyze and reconcile payroll-related accounting entries. Research accounting issues and identify appropriate resolutions. Assist with financial record cleanup and process improvement initiatives. Investigate and resolve historical accounting variances. Support accurate and timely financial reporting. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to strengthen accounting controls and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Experience in accounting, senior accounting, or accounting management roles. Strong reconciliation, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Experience cleaning up accounting records, correcting discrepancies, or supporting accounting transitions is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate enjoys rolling up their sleeves and tackling accounting challenges. This opportunity is best suited for someone who takes pride in identifying issues, reconciling complex accounts, and creating structure within financial processes. Whether coming from a Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Accounting Manager background, success in this role will come from a hands-on approach and a willingness to dive into detailed accounting work.
