About the Position The Senior Tax Accountant works directly with Managers, Supervisors, and Partners to deliver high-quality tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional with 3-5 years of public accounting experience who is ready to take on more complex engagements, provide technical guidance, and strengthen client relationships while contributing to the firm's continued growth. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, S corporations, fiduciaries, nonprofit organizations, and other entities.
- Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously while ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely completion.
- Analyze and reconcile client financial information and supporting documentation required for tax return preparation.
- Conduct tax research and evaluate complex tax issues, regulations, and planning opportunities.
- Identify tax-saving strategies and provide practical recommendations that help clients minimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance.
- Prepare tax projections, estimated tax calculations, and extension filings.
- Assist clients with IRS, state, and local tax notices, examinations, and inquiries.
- Participate in year-round tax planning and advisory engagements.
- Maintain complete and accurate workpapers and client documentation in accordance with firm standards and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for interns and staff accountants, providing guidance and reviewing work as assigned.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and exceptional service.
- Stay current on changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and communicate impacts to clients and team members.
- Assist with bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Partners, Managers, or Supervisors. Qualifications
- 3-5 years of public accounting tax experience required.
- CPA license preferred; CPA eligibility or active pursuit of licensure strongly considered.
- Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software such as CCH Axcess or similar platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines during peak tax seasons.
Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
