Summary:
We're hiring a Senior Accountant for a national logistics/fleet services company in the western Chicago suburbs. Reporting to the VP & Controller, this direct hire role is a right-hand, operational partner position - owning treasury, fixed assets, AP, and subledger reconciliations, plus month-end close, process improvement, and audit support. What You'll Own Manage operational accounting activities across assigned subledgers, including treasury, payroll, and fixed assets. Reconcile operational subledgers to the general ledger on a monthly basis. Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, prepaid analyses, and bank reconciliations. Oversee treasury operations, procure-to-pay activities, and expense management administration. Monitor and resolve aged accounts payable, intercompany balances, refunds, and transfers. Partner with business stakeholders to investigate discrepancies and improve processes. Maintain accounting controls that safeguard company assets and reduce risk. Support audits, 1099 reporting, lease accounting, and accounting inquiries. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. Build KPI reporting and analytical dashboards for management. Must-Haves Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience supporting month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations. Hands-on experience with accounts payable, treasury, and operational accounting processes. ERP system experience. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting accounting documentation. Nice to Have CPA designation. Experience with NetSuite. Experience with QuickBooks. Experience using banking platforms. Experience with expense management tools such as Divvy. Exposure to finance transformation or system enhancement initiatives. Experience supporting annual audits and information reporting requirements.
