POSITION OVERVIEW
Cook's Direct is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Generalist to provide day-to-day support across our accounting team. This role handles high-volume data entry, supports both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, maintains accurate records, and assists with reconciliations and administrative tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Data Entry & Recordkeeping Enter invoices, credits, and journal entry support data accurately and in a timely manner Maintain organized digital records of invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation File and retrieve accounting documents to support month-end close, audits, and internal requests Accounts Payable Support Assist with monitoring the AP inbox, routing invoices, statements, and vendor inquiries promptly Match vendor invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation before processing Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on missing invoices or credits Accounts Receivable Support Process and apply customer payments (checks, ACH, credit card) accurately to customer accounts Prepare and send customer invoices, statements, and payment reminders Research and resolve payment application discrepancies and short pays Reconciliations & Administrative Support Assist with bank and account reconciliations under the direction of senior accounting staff Maintain vendor and customer records, including W-9s and tax exemption certificates Sort and deliver internal mail on a regular schedule Support other accounting tasks and projects as needed; other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in accounting or business a plus 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or office administration experience Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort learning ERP/accounting software Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume data entry Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage recurring deadlines and prioritize a varied workload
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with ERP or accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) Accounting experience in a distribution, retail, or product-based company Familiarity with three-way matching (purchase order, receipt, invoice) Experience with cash application or customer billing Familiarity with W-9 collection or tax exemption certificate maintenance Working knowledge of basic accounting principles (debits/credits, AP, AR)
