Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, preparing financial reports, and supporting cost management initiatives to drive operational efficiency. Your expertise in accounting systems, cost analysis, and financial reporting will be vital in ensuring accurate cost data and fostering continuous improvement within our manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making through precise financial insights and robust data analysis. Duties Perform comprehensive cost accounting analysis to monitor manufacturing expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. Prepare detailed financial reports, including variance analyses, cost reports, and budget forecasts aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, Sage, or Xero to collect, analyze, and reconcile financial data related to manufacturing costs. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy of financial records. Support internal controls compliance by implementing SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and assisting with audits. Analyze cash flow statements and assist in forecasting future costs based on historical data and business intelligence tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cost management strategies, budget development, and financial software integration for improved data analysis. Qualifications Proven accounting experience within the manufacturing industry with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, or Xero; experience with ERP systems is highly desirable. Solid knowledge of GAAP standards, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and technical accounting concepts. Strong data analysis skills using spreadsheets (Excel), Excel data analysis tools, and business intelligence platforms to interpret financial reports effectively. Experience with SOX compliance processes and financial report writing is preferred. Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting accurately. Excellent analytical skills with a focus on cost analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis. Effective communication skills for interpreting complex financial concepts clearly across teams and departments.
