An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. About the Role Grable CPA & Company is a growing, family-rooted firm serving small businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals across Southern Indiana. We're looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who wants more than just tax season volume; someone who enjoys coaching clients, building long-term relationships, and helping our team deliver clear, practical advice that actually moves the needle for the clients we serve. You'll take ownership of complex tax work, support tax planning conversations, and help develop the next generation of staff while working in a supportive, tight-knit environment that values accuracy, integrity, and genuine client care. What You'll Do Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates (including multi-state and more complex situations). Perform tax research, develop planning strategies, and prepare projections and estimates that help clients make smarter decisions year-round. Serve as a primary or secondary point of contact for assigned clients; communicating clearly, answering questions, and building trust. Review work prepared by staff and interns; provide coaching and feedback that helps the whole team raise its game. Assist with IRS/state notices, correspondence, and basic audit support. Stay current on tax law changes and help the firm apply them practically for our client base. Contribute to process improvements and the overall growth of the firm as we continue expanding. What We're Looking For Active CPA license (required). 5+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably in public accounting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Strong technical knowledge of individual and business taxation, including Form 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and related schedules. Experience with CCH Axcess tax software and proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex tax concepts in plain language. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines without losing the personal touch. A service-minded attitude and genuine interest in helping clients and teammates succeed. What We Offer Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. Opportunity for real growth in a firm that has expanded significantly through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Supportive, collaborative team culture across our Evansville, Santa Claus, and Mount Vernon offices. Continuing education support and a path to take on more advisory and client-relationship responsibility. The chance to do meaningful work with clients who value personalized service over cookie-cutter solutions. Bonus and stock option opportunities If you're a CPA who wants to do high-quality tax work in an environment that still feels personal and human, we'd love to talk.
