Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintains a documents system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk. 2. Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance. 3. Provides financial analysis with emphasis on daily transactions. 4. Assists with general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. 5. Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheet reconciliations, income statements, and profit and loss statements. 6. Prepares daily financial reports related to daily transactions. 7. Maintains the general ledger. 8. Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books. 9. Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts and within payment terms. 10. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit as requested by Controller. 11. Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies in timely fashion. 12. Follows environmental and safety regulation and acts in compliance with U.S. laws. 13. Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics. 14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. 2. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. 3. Highly proficient with accounting software. 4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required. 2. Three to five years of accounting experience required.
