Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing organization in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in accounting who can manage day-to-day financial activity while contributing to accurate reporting and project-level cost tracking. The position offers the opportunity to work across core accounting functions and provide dependable financial support to leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain construction-related job costs to help ensure accurate tracking of project expenses and financial performance.
- Assist with budget planning and ongoing budget oversight by comparing actual results to financial expectations.
- Prepare and submit pay application packages and supporting documentation for lender review in a timely manner.
- Complete bank account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate cash records.
- Support the monthly close process by compiling financial data and producing monthly financial statements.
- Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment tracking, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Oversee accounts payable processing by reviewing invoices, coordinating approvals, and ensuring timely vendor payments.
- Provide additional accounting analysis and special project support as needed for company leadership and organizational priorities. Requirements
- At least 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Working knowledge of bank reconciliations, month-end close activities, and monthly financial reporting.
- Experience with budget tracking and general accounting support across multiple financial areas.
- Familiarity with construction accounting principles and project cost oversight.
- Proficiency in Sage 300 or comparable accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work accurately and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to respond to ad hoc requests from leadership.
