This is a Full Time Monday - Friday position The Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of Newman Regional Health by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulations. This position works closely with the Controller to support daily accounting functions, financial reporting, audits, budgeting activities, and reimbursement processes. The Accountant plays an integral role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting the organization's mission through sound financial practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for financial statements Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analyses Support budget preparation, monitoring, and financial forecasting activities Provide financial data and analysis to the Controller as requested Support accounting functions related to Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer settlements Assist with cost report preparation and supporting schedules Apply healthcare accounting standards and reimbursement methodologies Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), hospital policies, and applicable regulations Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation Support cash management activities, bank recociliations, and cash forecasting Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives Provide backup support for other finance department functions as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Previous accounting experience preferred Healthcare accounting experience preferred Proficient in Microsoft Excel Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word required Experience with PDF management, scanning software, and accounting systems preferred CPA certification preferred but not required At NRH, we want to ensure your needs are met.
