Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support a Contract engagement focused on improving the accuracy of project-related financial records in Overland Park, Kansas. This role will lead detailed reviews of invoicing, cost activity, and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies and confirm that transactions are properly recorded. The ideal candidate brings strong reconciliation expertise, a methodical approach to investigation, and the ability to translate findings into clear documentation and practical next steps.
Responsibilities:
  • Examine high volumes of project invoices and related records to verify completeness, accuracy, and appropriate financial treatment.
  • Investigate exceptions involving labor, materials, vendor charges, allocations, and customer billing to determine the source of inconsistencies.
  • Follow transactions across the full project lifecycle, from purchase authorization through completion and closeout, to confirm supporting evidence at each stage.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations using information from multiple records and platforms to resolve mismatches and unsupported activity.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis to identify whether issues stem from process breakdowns, duplicate entries, misapplied costs, or other control concerns.
  • Document conclusions, supporting details, and recommended corrective actions in a clear and organized manner for leadership review.
  • Partner with accounting, procurement, operations, and project teams to clarify outstanding items and drive issue resolution.
  • Assess recurring patterns in discrepancies and help prioritize remediation efforts based on financial impact and operational risk.
