Senior Accountant Cochener Garvey Capital Partners Wichita, KS Job Details Full-time $70,000 - $85,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Financial close processing Bachelor's degree Closing the books Full Job Description Job Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities for CGCPI and assigned portfolio companies. Working closely with the Corporate Controller, this position helps ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner, that balance sheet reconciliations and close activities are current, and that monthly financial information is ready for final Controller review. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative, service-oriented approach. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across multiple entities and systems and will have a strong interest in leveraging technology, automation, and process improvements to make the accounting function more efficient and reliable. Key Responsibilities General Accounting & Month-End Close Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting, including journal entries and other assigned accounting activities. Prepare and maintain account analyses and balance sheet; research and resolve reconciling items, discrepancies, and outstanding items. Perform assigned month-end and year-end close activities and maintain appropriate supporting documentation. Perform an initial review of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for completeness, reasonableness, and unusual or unexpected activity before final review by the Corporate Controller. Provide supporting information for budgets, forecasts, financial analyses, management reporting, and other accounting or financial information requests. Portfolio Company & Project Accounting Work within the HaloPSA ticketing system to help ensure accurate customer setup and billing. Collaborate with the team on quote processing and project accounting, including reviewing project costs, tracking inventory and expenses, monitoring project status and profitability, and ensuring accurate billing and timely revenue recognition. Coordinate with portfolio company personnel to obtain information and resolve routine accounting matters. Tax & Compliance Support Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual tax filings and other financial statement services, and respond to routine accountant and tax information requests in coordination with the Corporate Controller. Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls and assist with internal accounting reviews as requested. Financial Systems & Process Improvement Use Sage Intacct and other financial systems to process transactions, maintain accounting records, and review financial information, including accurate data, dimensions, mappings, and supporting information. Troubleshoot routine accounting system issues and participate in system implementations, integrations, updates, testing, and process changes. Actively identify and help implement practical opportunities to automate or simplify accounting workflows, reporting, reconciliations, data flow, and other routine processes using Sage Intacct, Excel, AI-enabled tools, integrations, and other finance technologies. Help document key accounting procedures, automated workflows, system configurations, and processes and promote consistent accounting practices across assigned entities. Team & Department Support Work closely with Accounting Assistants, review assigned work for accuracy, and provide backup accounting support and cross-training as needed. Assist with special accounting projects as assigned by the Corporate Controller. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience with strong general ledger, journal entry, balance sheet reconciliation, month-end close, and monthly financial statement review experience. Multi-entity accounting experience preferred; intercompany accounting or consolidation experience is a plus. Project accounting experience, including tracking billings and costs by project, is a plus. Sage Intacct experience is a significant plus. Skills & Competencies Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles, with strong Excel and data management skills. Strong interest in accounting technology, automation, process improvement, and learning new tools; comfort with secure and responsible use of AI and automation tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple entities, deadlines, and priorities; take ownership of assigned work; and know when to elevate issues or request guidance. Effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented, service-minded approach when working with the Controller, finance team, and portfolio company personnel. Dependability, accountability, and ability to maintain confidentiality when working with financial information.
