Paducah, KY Position Summary The Staff Accountant supports the firm's assurance and tax service lines by performing accounting, auditing, tax compliance, and consulting engagements for a diverse client base. This role assists with financial statement audits, reviews, compilations, tax return preparation, and other client service projects while developing technical expertise and professional skills. The Staff Accountant works closely with managers, partners, and clients to deliver high-quality services and help clients achieve their business objectives.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assurance Services:
Assist in the planning and execution of audit, review, and compilation engagements for clients in various industries. Perform testing of financial statement accounts, internal controls, and key business processes. Prepare audit workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with professional standards and firm policies. Analyze financial data and identify variances, trends, and potential areas of concern. Assist with financial statement preparation and related disclosures. Participate in inventory observations and other fieldwork procedures as required. Communicate effectively with client personnel to obtain information and resolve questions. Ensure work is completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Tax Services Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and nonprofit organizations. Assist with tax planning projects and tax research assignments. Gather and organize client tax information and maintain accurate records. Research tax issues and summarize findings for review by senior team members. Assist clients with tax notices, compliance requirements, and information requests. Stay informed of changes in tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements. General Responsibilities Maintain productivity and quality standards while managing multiple assignments and deadlines. Develop and maintain positive client relationships through professional communication and service. Collaborate with team members across service lines to meet client needs. Utilize accounting, audit, tax, and data analysis software effectively. Participate in continuing professional education and professional development activities. Adhere to firm policies, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and quality control standards. Support special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Technology, or a related field required. Accounting coursework sufficient to pursue CPA licensure preferred. Entry-level position; prior internship or professional experience in public accounting is preferred but not required. Experience with accounting, tax, or audit software is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, auditing concepts, and taxation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. Interest in leveraging technology and data analytics to improve client service and engagement efficiency. Preferred Qualifications CPA eligibility or active pursuit of CPA certification. Experience with audit, tax, accounting, or data analytics software. Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and emerging technologies. Understanding of data management, automation, or business intelligence tools. Working Conditions Occasional travel to client locations may be required. Increased minimum hour requirements may be required during peak audit and tax seasons.
