Job Summary:
Location:
Metairie, Louisiana, but most work done Remotely; Must live within 1 hour of New Orleans, LA. Approximately 20-25 hours per week The Senior Accounting Consultant is a key execution-focused role, supporting Consulting Managers in delivering high-quality accounting, financial reporting, and advisory services to clients. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can independently manage assigned tasks, contribute to process improvements, and serve as a trusted day-to-day resource for clients—while operating under the direction of a Consulting Manager. Senior Consultants are expected to bring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a problem-solving mindset. While they interact directly with clients, they must maintain consistent communication with their Consulting Manager to ensure alignment, accuracy, and timely issue escalation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Support & Engagement Support in servicing clients across a variety of industries, including nonprofits, healthcare, transportation, retail, construction, and professional services. Participate in client onboarding by learning and documenting client processes and procedures. Communicate professionally and effectively with client personnel while escalating issues, risks, or uncertainties to the Consulting Manager. Assist in training client staff as needed, adapting to their level and pace. 2. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Perform and support month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal management reports. Review financial data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission to the Consulting Manager for review. Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and improve reporting efficiency. 3. Audit & Compliance Support Assist with audit preparation, including assembling audit support, schedules, and documentation. Work with Consulting Managers to address auditor requests and questions. Support compliance and regulatory reporting as required by client engagements. Assist with implementing new accounting standards and updated processes at the direction of the Consulting Manager. 4. Process Improvement & Systems Identify inefficiencies in client accounting processes and propose improvements to the Consulting Manager. Support software implementations, system conversions, data mapping, and automation initiatives. Assist with testing and documentation of new systems and workflows. 5. Team Collaboration & Accountability Manage assigned tasks and deliverables independently while meeting deadlines and quality expectations. Maintain clear, timely communication with the Consulting Manager regarding progress, obstacles, and client concerns. Collaborate with other consultants to ensure consistent service delivery and adherence to Company standards. Contribute to internal documentation, templates, and best practices as requested. Core Competencies & Required Skills
ADVANCED EXCEL
skills and comfort working with large data sets. Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision. Professional judgment to recognize when issues should be escalated. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree a plus; CPA highly desired. 5-10+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting roles. Experience supporting month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit processes. Exposure to multiple industries and accounting systems preferred. Prefer some Construction Industry background Experience with software implementations, integrations, or process improvements a plus.
