Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting core accounting functions, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and assisting with financial reporting and month-end and year-end close activities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls, along with strong Excel and accounting systems experience. Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards. Perform detailed general ledger account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including recording and reviewing financial transactions. Support month-end and year-end close activities by compiling financial data, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. Review financial records and account balances to ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity. Support internal control and SOX compliance efforts by following established accounting procedures and maintaining appropriate documentation. Assist with compliance efforts related to governmental accounting standards and other applicable financial requirements. Utilize Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to analyze financial data, maintain spreadsheets, and prepare financial reports. Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and handle confidential financial information with the utmost discretion. Collaborate with internal teams to research and resolve accounting-related questions and financial inquiries. Support additional accounting projects and financial analysis as needed. Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, debits and credits, journal entries, and general ledger accounting. Experience performing account reconciliations and reviewing balance sheet accounts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong to advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and spreadsheet management. Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and public accounting practices is a plus. Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and support finance-related inquiries.
