Jobs › Greenfield, MA › Sr. Accountant Robert Half Sr. Accountant Greenfield, MA Apply Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position in Greenfield, Massachusetts. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet integrity through detailed reconciliations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Record and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and alignment to accounting policies.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and preserving the accuracy of financial data.
• Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis and investigate variances to completion.
• Complete bank reconciliations by matching cash activity, identifying outstanding items, and following up on exceptions.
• Analyze financial information to detect unusual trends, correct errors, and improve the reliability of reported results.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting support, clarify transactions, and address close-related questions.
• Assist with audit preparation by organizing records, reconciling balances, and providing requested documentation. Requirements
• Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with ownership of key month-end close activities.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and the preparation of journal entries.
• Demonstrated ability to complete account reconciliations accurately and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Hands-on experience performing bank reconciliations in a high-volume or deadline-oriented environment.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established reporting deadlines.
