$85,000-$125,000 + Bonus KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting has partnered with a growing manufacturing organization in Lowell, MA that is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its Accounting and Finance team. This position will work closely with Manufacturing and Operations and have responsibility across product costing, inventory accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, recent hands-on SAP experience , and advanced Excel skills. Prior manufacturing or cost accounting experience is preferred; however, the company is open to a strong accountant with extensive SAP experience who has the ability to learn the cost accounting side of the business.
Responsibilities:
Support product costing within SAP, including material masters, bills of material, routings, activity rates, labor, overhead, and purchasing information Analyze manufacturing variances, inventory activity, cycle counts, inventory valuation, reserves, and related discrepancies Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and month-end close documentation Perform general ledger analysis and support assigned SOX controls Manage accounting and reporting activities related to labor, overhead, precious metals, and other operational areas Partner with Operations on forecasting, budgeting, capital analysis, and financial reporting Utilize SAP to research accounting postings, costing, inventory, and master-data issues and validate data used for financial analysis Respond to internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation Participate in ERP and system enhancement initiatives, acquisitions, and process improvement projects Manage recurring and ad hoc responsibilities while balancing competing priorities and month-end close deadlines Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, Manufacturing, Operations, and other internal teams
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred 3+ years of progressive accounting experience 2+ years of recent, hands-on SAP accounting experience required , including transaction analysis, data extraction, and discrepancy research Strong accounting fundamentals, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, general ledger analysis, inventory accounting, and internal controls Advanced Excel and analytical skills Ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload and competing deadlines Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to learn new processes and technology Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally Availability to work the weekend prior to each month-end close Ability to travel occasionally as needed If you are interested in this job, please email Dalton Rolli at drolli@kbwfinancial.com for immediate consideration.
